Research sequence photo about Duane Michael

Duane Michael is an American photographer mostly known for his capability to tell a narrative  through sequential images. It is fascinating to see how dramatically and enigmatic his work is and it is certainly an inspiration for any photographer looking to convey a message and tell a story. We can see it in pieces such as  " Grandpa Goes to Heaven", "Chance of Meeting" and "Death Comes to the Old Lady".  During his career he took portraits of many influential artists such as Andy Warhol, Marcel Duchamp. Also he worked with the British band The Police, being the photographer behind the iconic cover of "Synchronicity". On this post I will be researching a bit more about Duane Michael work and reflect on it.

Death Comes to the Old Lady, 1969
I liked the angle he shot the picture, setting the old lady on the middle. It is possible to notice that the angles is not stable  they are similar but slightly different. In my opinion it creates a feeling  instability, which is metaphor with the life once it is unpredictable. In the second, third and forth picture we can see the a man in black suit that represent the death. One point that I did like about that sequence is the fact that we can not see clearly the old lady on the last picture, once she was moving during a longer exposure photography so that she looks blur, which represent her passage of this life.

The angle of  those pictures are really interesting once in the first five pictures it looks like filled. However, in the last one it seems so empty and the wall on left looks bigger.  To my mind Duane Michael  shot on this way to convey the message of the importance of the meeting, despite being fast it left a void.  I do like the feeling of spontaneity those images transmit.
In general what I liked the most about Duane Michael is the narrative he can tell through his sequential photos. The fact that mostly all those photos are black and white is really appealing and it casts my attention once it looks enigmatic. The name he gave to those pieces are really simple and successfully describes what is happening on the picture.
